ChiWalking in Australia PDF E-mail

Hi!  We are your friendly ChiWalking instructors here in Australia

J-R Campion
J-R Campion

I’m J-R, certified ChiRunning and ChiWalking instructor, and ChiRunner since 2005. I find ChiWalking about the most sensible and logic thing to do! Every time I walk now, I walk the ChiWalk. The result is less fatigue, no traipsing the feet and energy to walk around the malls, the shops, in the bush, anywhere, everywhere all the time. I cannot believe the difference, so simple, yet so subtle and with efficacy. You won’t believe it till you try!

Having competed in race walking,  participated mountain trekking and as a volunteer mountain rescue team member fro three years, I know what the difference is between ordinary walking and ChiWalking. Also, often out hiking as a vacation activity, adopting the ChiWalking way makes it all so even more enjoyable. No slouching, no coming hard down on the heels, no lower back pain, even with a heavy back pack, just enjoyable hiking. Find out more, give it a try, you will be amazed!

I look forward to meeting and teaching you or helping you develop your ChiWalking technique. Call or email me and I can answer all your queries and questions regarding this great new way of efficient and injury free walking.

I am Anne, certified in ChiWalking. I have a love of walking as a means exercise and enjoying the beautiful nature around us. I teach ChiWalking part time as it is a way of sharing my knowledge to help others discover the great benefits form being able to walk easier.

Whether you hesitate to walk because it causes you pain or are looking for an alternative, logical way of walking, I would love to introduce you to ChiWalking and let you see how fabulous it is and how it really does help you walk better, easier!

Why should I want to learn to walk the ChiWalking way?

Walking is the most natural way of exercising. It is known to help reduce cholesterol, diabetes, lowers the risk of cancer, osteoporosis, and it is the most reachable, affordable and easiest physical activity around!

Adults who have hip joint problems, arthritis, circulatory problems, stiff articulations, as well as general tension and misalignment due to years of incorrect posture are having issues with walking any distance or without pain and discomfort.

Many people walk with their hips leading and pelvis locked, using the power of their legs, which disengages their spine from the movement of walking.  Walking with the hips leading, or thrust forward, swaying from side to side, a slouched back, and knees locked leads inevitably to gradual discomfort, injuries, even hip replacement.

Shin splints, sciatica as well as back pain are also common symptoms caused by poor walking form.

In reality, our legs, our hips are not designed to lead us, to power us along, when walking. This is not a natural movement, as nature intended us to walk. It has come about, through the years of emulating others, and walking in a way that is “acceptable” in today’s society.

The fact of the matter is that we are “designed” to walk with our upper body leading. Watch a child of less than 4 years old walk; chances are that you’ll see him or her walk with their upper body naturally leading.

Now watch a young adult of 14 walking. I bet that he’ll be walking with a swagger, hips forward and legs powering the movement. Or a young woman, have you remarked how her hips have that lateral sway? Now which do you think is more natural, as nature intended the body to move?  The child of under 4, moving as nature intended, or the young adult, (and older adults!), walking by emulating his or her peers?

Unfortunately, the “adopted adult” way of walking contributes in a major way to the above health related problems. However, it is never too late to change!

Learning to walk the ChiWalking way will have you walking with grace, ease and without discomfort. You’ll learn to move in a way where the whole body walks. The power coming from what is called in Pilates your “powerhouse” and what is referred to in T’ai Chi, as your “Dantien”

Walking with your core muscles engaged, joints and muscles relaxed and having the body walk in balance will open a whole new way of walking. You’ll be able to walk further, easier and energy efficient, without occurring injuries dues to heel strike, misaligned posture, and locked or swaying hips.

Other benefits from ChiWalking is for those who suffer from arthritis and osteoarthritis, and are limited in their walking due to this unfortunate infliction.

The ChiWalking technique allows a virtually impact free way of walking that places much less stress than conventional walking on the joints, and supporting structures.

Hikers, trail and bush walkers can also benefit from adopting the ChiWalking method.

Find out more how ChiWalking can really help you walk, hike and trek better, easier and with less effort.

"Let me assure you, applying this technique now when I am out hiking or trekking, my effort level is so much less. I can cover more ground, for less effort. As a former soldier, I wish I knew about this when lugging a back pack more than my own body weight as well as a mortar plate on my back in the bush and in the hills and mountains overseas!"
